Why Install Ducted Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning?
Ducted Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning provides efficient heating and cooling for your entire home using electricity, making it the ultimate all-in-one system.
They are available in various sizes to accommodate different home sizes.
With a discreet design, the majority of the system is concealed, leaving only the vents visible in each room.
Ducted Reverse Cycle FAQs
Electric Ducted Heating & Cooling is rapidly gaining popularity as the preferred system for both new construction projects and homeowners looking to upgrade to a comprehensive, whole-home climate control solution.
Ducted Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning is the ultimate in home heating and cooling.
Using just one system, it can keep your entire house at your preferred temperature all year round.
It is comprised of 2 parts, an indoor and outdoor unit, which is sometimes why its called a Ducted Split System.
The outdoor unit is a compressor which works in conjunction with the indoor unit which is located in the roof cavity.
The indoor unit distributes the air which has been heated or cooled to your desired temperature to rooms via a series of ducts and vents in the ceiling.
A Programmable controller allows you set different temperatures for various times of the day and night. Zoning gives you control over what rooms are airconditioned at any time.
The cooling is Refrigerated Cooling, so no matter the temperature outside, the house will stay at your selected temperature.
Due to advances in technology and an increase in popularity, ducted electric Air Conditioners are becoming more energy efficient and affordable.
Whether your vents are in your ceiling or floor will depend on the design of your house, although it is more common to have ceiling vents for ducted air conditioning.
For houses built on a subfloor, underfloor ducts may be an option provided there is adequate clearance.
For houses built on a concrete slab the ducts will need to be located in the ceiling, again adequate clearance will be required.
In order to determine which size Ducted Reverse Cycle unit is required for your home, a member from our design team will need to carry out a Heating/Cooling Load Calculation.
The calculation takes into consideration the size of the rooms required to be heated or cooled, as well as the ceiling height.
Factors such as whether you want to heat or cool the entire home at once, or utilize Zoning also come into consideration.
How many outlets (or vents) you will need depend on your house size and design. Some large rooms will require more than one outlet.
Do you currently have a Gas Ducted Heating and want to know if you can convert it to Ducted Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning?
Option 1 – Install a Ducted Reverse Cycle System
In the majority of circumstances, you will need to replace it with Ducted Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning.
The existing ducts can be re-used if they are rated for use with Refrigerated Cooling. We use R1.5 insulated ducts, which are insulated to minimize heating/cooling loss. If currently have Gas Ducted Heating, it is unlikely your ducts would have been upgraded for use with Refrigerated Cooling.
However, if you currently have Add On Refrigerated Cooling (not to be confused with Evaporative Cooling), then there is a chance we are able to re-use the ductwork if it’s in good condition.
Option 2 – Convert your Gas Ducted Heater to Electric
Do you currently have both a Brivis Gas Ducted Heater and Brivis Add On Cooler?
If yes, then there is a chance you will be able to convert your gas ducted heater to electric, using a brand new product from Brivis called SmartSens. And good news is, you can switch between using gas and electricity for your heating.
Check out our Brivis SmartSens page for more information.
Features
Ducted Reverse Cycle systems are designed to meet all your heating and cooling needs.
However, there are optional upgrades that can enhance their performance. One upgrade we highly recommend is zoning, which helps reduce running costs and increases energy efficiency.
The only system you need to heat and cool your entire home
We only recommend and install units which are built to handle temperature extremes we experience in Geelong & Melbourne, from hot summers to frosty winters.
Zoning is great for saving on running costs as you are only heating or cooling the rooms you currently need, plus its programmable, so it can automatically turn on and off at different periods.
For example, you might have your living areas as Zone A, which you heat or cool during the day and bedrooms as Zone B which you heat or cool during the night.
Want to know more about the ins and outs of Zoning?
