Why Install Ducted Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning?
What is Ducted Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning?
Ducted Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning is the only heating & cooling system you need for your home
Ducted Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning, also known as Ducted Split Systems are the ultimate in home heating and cooling.
Using just one system, it can keep your entire house at your preferred temperature all year round.
It delivers continuous air conditioning to rooms via a series of ducts and vents in the ceiling.
Features such as Programming and Zoning allow you to set different temperatures for different times of the day and night.
The cooling is Refrigerated Cooling, so no matter the temperature outside, the house will stay at your selected temperature.
Ducted Reverse Cycle Air Conditioners use electricity to heat and cool, so those with solar panels installed will benefit from offsetting their heating and cooling running costs.
Whether your vents are in your ceiling or floor will depend on the design of your house, although it is more common to have ceiling vents.
For houses built on a subfloor, underfloor ducts may be an option provided there is adequate clearance.
For houses built on a concrete slab the ducts will need to be located in the ceiling, again adequate clearance will be required.
In order to determine which size Ducted Reverse Cycle Unit is required for your home, a member from our design team will need to carry out a Heating/Cooling Load Calcuation.
The calculation takes into consideration the size of the rooms required to be heated or cooled, as well as the ceiling height.
Factors such as whether you want to heat or cool the entire home at once, or utilize zoning also come into consideration.
Do you currently have Gas Ducted Heating and/or Evaporative Cooling and want to know if you can convert it to Ducted Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning?
Ducted Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning systems consist of in indoor unit, outdoor unit and require ducts which are rated for heating and refrigerated cooling. We use R1.5 insulated ducts, which are insulated to minimize heating/cooling loss.
If you have a Gas Ducted Heater, there is no way to convert the unit from using gas to using electricity, it will need replacing.
The existing ducts can be reused if they are rated for use with refrigerated cooling. If you only have Gas Ducted Heating, it is usually unlikely they would have been upgraded for use with refrigerated cooling.
However, if you also have Add On refrigerated Cooling, then if they may be suitable.
Evaporative Cooling has its own set of ducts and are not suitable for refrigerated cooling.
So while there is no way to convert existing systems, the majority of systems we install are in houses with exisiting systems. We simply remove the exisiting system and replace it with an electric Ducted Reverse Cycle System.
Ducted Reverse Cycle Air Conditioner Features
The only system you need to heat and cool your entire home
We only recommend and install units which are built to handle temperature extremes we experience in Geelong & Melbourne, from hot summers to frosty winters.
Zoning is great for saving on running costs as you are only heating or cooling the rooms you currently need, plus its programmable, so it can automatically turn on and off at different periods.
For example, you might have your living areas as Zone A, which you heat or cool during the day and bedrooms as Zone B which you heat or cool during the night.
