Gas Log Fire FAQs

Gas Log Fires are an enclosed combustion-style heater which uses gas instead of wood to create a real flame fire.

They can be freestanding or built into an existing wall or fireplace.

A variety of designs are available to suit all rooms, from sleek modern to traditional.

Gas Log Fires are a practical and efficient way to warm your home. Producing both radiant and convective heat, they add ambience, beauty and character to any room.

A traditional wood fire requires preparations and cleaning.  Gas log fires require little maintenance and are up and running at the push of a button.

Gas Log fires create real flames, but utilise natural gas instead of wood.

The warmth of the flames are comparable to that of a wood fire, but without emitting smoke, so a traditional chimney is not required, instead a small flue is used.

The flames sit behind glass. This makes it both safe and energy efficient, warming the air before pushing it out via vents at the top of the heater.

Gas Log fires come in many different designs and sizes, giving customers the flexibility to find a fireplace to suit their room or area.

The 3 main categories of Gas Log Fires are:

  • Built in – built into a wall or an existing fireplace
  • Room divider – inserted into a wall, but visible on both sides
  • Freestanding – not inserted into a wall or cavity

Every fireplace has durable fire-proof logs to give it a realistic effect. Some models offer different options to choose from, such as natural logs, driftwood or stones.

Some built in models give you the option of different size and colour facias, which is the frame around the face of the heater.

And some freestanding models give different options for the heater stand.

How many KW you need your heater to be depends on the size of your room or open plan area.

Different KWs come in different shapes and sizes, so you need a model which is both powerful enough for your space as well as the right physical size.
