How is the Dominator different to other ducted reverse cycle air conditioners?

Braemar’s new Dominator Reverse Cycle Hybrid Heating system is a ducted system which uses electricity to both heat and cool your home. So far it sounds like normal Ducted Reverse Cycle Air Conditioner, right?

This is where the “hybrid” part comes into it.

Dominators are designed first and foremost to be a direct replacement for those wanting to change their ducted heating from gas to electric.

While they can provide refrigerated cooling, it’s recommended to keep your Evaporative Cooler to provide the majority of your cooling.

What do you mean by direct replacement?

Normally, in order to install a Ducted Reverse Cycle system, the ductwork would need be upgraded to larger size ducts to accommodation refrigerated cooling.

However, the Braemar Dominator is designed to fit in the exact place your gas ducted heater was and connect onto the same ducts.

How does this save on installation costs?

Since you are not required to replace your ducts, it saves you on both the supply and installation of new ducts.

This does, of course, depend on if your current ducts are in good condition.

Why is it recommended I keep my Evaporative Cooler?

As previously mentioned, usually ductwork is upgraded to larger ducts for Refrigerated Cooling. And while the Dominator Hybrid Heating system can cool using refrigerated cooling, it’s not it’s primary purpose.

So Braemar recommend to continue using your Evaporative Cooler, then on those occasional humid days where evaporative cooling struggles, switch on your refrigerated cooling.

What type of homes is the Dominator best suited to?

While the Dominator can be installed in all homes, they are a particularly good solution for:

  • Homes with ductwork which is hard to access and cannot be easily upgraded
  • Those who want to keep using their Evaporative Cooler
  • Those who want to save on installation costs by using their existing ducts

How much do they cost compared to other ducted reverse cycles?

The cost of the Dominator is comparable to other ducted reverse cycle air conditioners.

What makes their installation cheaper is if your current ducts are in good condition, you don’t have to replace them.

Does the Dominator qualify for Government Rebates?

Yes, the Dominator has been approved to participate in the Victorian Government’s Energy Upgrade (VEU) scheme. So if you currently have a gas ducted heater, you will save thousands of dollars in rebates when you install an electric ducted heater.

In conclusion

Braemar’s Dominator series Reverse Cycle Heating system is a unique product on the market and offers the following perks:

Easy replacement of your gas ducted heater
Keep your current ducts
Save thousands with Government rebates when replacing a gas ducted heater
Can accommodate Zoning – up to 8 zones
Keep your Evaporative Cooler
Use refrigerated cooling on humid days
Optional Features – WIFI control, Touch Screen Wall Controller
