Installations
When it comes to installing new units, we only recommend brands and models we would install in our own homes. On each of our product pages, you’ll find a list of brands we recommend for that type of system.
Most manufacturers recommended getting your unit professionally serviced every 2 years.
Check your manufacturers user guide / owners manual for more information.
For General Servicing appointments, where your system doesn’t require any repairs, it generally takes around 45mins, depending on access to the unit.
Repairs vary, depending on what is wrong with the unit.
We do aim for a first-time fix every time, but if it’s an uncommon part or a brand we do not carry spare parts for, we may need to order it in.
This will depend on multiple factors including the age, condition, availability of parts and cost.
After assessing a unit which needs repairs, our technician will advise you of repair costs, including parts and labour. Plus we can provide with options to replace the unit with a new one or upgrade to a more energy efficient unit, depending on your preference, so you can make an informed decision whether to repair or replace.
Yes we do, Ducted Heat Pump Heaters are another name for Ducted Reverse Cycle Air Conditioners.
In fact, there are many names for these systems including:
- Ducted Split Systems
- Ducted Air Conditioners
- Reverse Cycle Air Conditioners
- Central Heating and Cooling
- Electric Ducted Heating and Refrigerated Cooling
This is really dependent on the type unit you are having installed, and the complexity of the installation.
Changeovers or Replacements, where you are removing one unit and installing the exact same in it’s place can be quick, with some replacements only taking a couple of hours.
However, new installations of large ducted systems are more complex and can take 1-2 days, depending on the size of the house, access and work required.
When you discuss your job with our friendly staff, please don’t hesitate to ask, we will be able to give you the timeframe for your job.
No, for quality control and warranty purposes, we only install what we supply.
Yes, check out our Selection Guide page, which compares installation costs and running costs of different types of heating and cooling systems.
The 2 most common causes are issues with air not coming out of some of your vents is either due to the ductwork or zoning.
Ducts can become detached from the outlets or each other. Of if they are old, can collapse or deteriorate.
If you have zoning, it could be an issue with either zone settings or a zone motor. Refer to your systems user guide for instructions on using zone settings. If the zone motor is the issue, you will need to get it replaced.
Tip! While your ductwork and zone motors make up part of your ducted system, they are not a part of your unit, eg if you have a Brivis Gas Ducted Heater, they are not a Brivis product, they are separate to the Heater. So you will need to contact a company such as Martin Heating and Cooling who can attend to both the Heater if its the issue, as well as 3rd party ductwork and zoning.
Yes, we can repair, replace and install ductwork, depending on your needs.
We can also replace your ceiling or floor outlets, as they tend to get brittle and yellow with age.
We do not offer duct cleaning, however there are companies who specialise in this area.
It is recommended you clean your Ducted Air Conditioners return air filter (usually located in a hallway) or Split System’s indoor unit air filter every 2 weeks to ensure your unit can draw in adequate airflow and you are breathing clean air.
Watch our short video on how to clean your Split System’s indoor filter.
It’s a fact new Evaporative Cooler pads have a mild odor. Some people notice it and others don’t.
This is completely normal and nothing to worry about, but can be a little unpleasant while they are settling in.
As they get flushed with water during use, the smell will dissipate.
If you want to, you can help this process along by using your Evaporative Cooler for a couple of hours, then turning it off long enough for the water to be released from the cooler and refilled with fresh water. How long it takes the Evaporative Cooler to empty water after turning off depends on your Evaporative Cooler model, for Brivis units, it occurs 1 hour after turning the unit off.
Evaporative coolers are designed to empty themselves of water when turned off, to ensure there is no stagnant water in the unit.
For example, Brivis units by default, will dump the water 1 hour after being turned off.
Refer to your owners manual / user guide for information on your particular model.
