The top 5 reasons to service your home heating or cooling system include:

What gets done during a General Service varies slightly from Brand and Model, but generally includes:

Gas Ducted & Space Heaters General Services

  • Clean the filters
  • Clean and test the electrical and mechanical components (such as fan motor, gas valve, ignitor and flame sensor rods)
  • Check for any wear and tear to the components (such as the heat exchangers which can crack and leak carbon monoxide)
  • Check the gas supply & operating pressure and ensure the appliance is gastight
  • Check for abnormal operation (which could cause potential issues in the future)
  • Test for carbon monoxide spillage from the heat exchanger
  • Ensure the system is operating efficiently and to manufacturers specifications (to reduce running costs and increasing life span)
  • Inspect that the installation is safe and meets regulations.
  • We are VBA registered and will provide you with a VBA compliant gas servicing record as per current regulations

Evaporative Cooler General Service

  • Clean and disinfect the unit.
  • Flush the filter pads
  • Check there is adequate airflow
  • Clean and test the electrical and mechanical components. ( such as the water pump, fan motor, water sensor, solenoid valve)
  • Check for any ware and tare to the components (to prevent any leaks coming into the house)
  • Ensure the system is operating efficiently and to manufacturers specifications (to reduce running costs and increasing life span)
  • Inspect that the installation is safe and meets regulations.

Air Conditioner General Service (includes Wall & Ducted Reverse Cycle Split Systems)

  • Clean the filters
  • Check Refrigerant levels (to ensure there are no refrigerant gas leaks)
  • Clean and test the electrical and mechanical components. (such as the fan motors, compressor, and valves)
  • Check for any wear and tear to the components
  • Ensure the system is operating efficiently and to manufacturers specifications (to reduce running costs and increasing life span)
  • Inspect that the installation is safe and meets regulations.
How much does a General Service cost?

Martin Heating & Cooling’s General Service (current May 2023) cost is $250, which includes up to 1 hours labour. Parts are not required for a General Service as describe above, but if we notice something worn out, we will let you know and the price of the part so you can decide if you would like to replace it.

If you book 2 units to be serviced on the same day, the 2nd unit will be at a discounted price of $190, that’s a saving of $60
